The deadline for the Chicago Bulls to pick up the $3,000,000 team option on Ryan Arcidiacono’s contract was yesterday. According to NBC Sports Chicago reporter K.C. Johnson, that deadline passed without the Bulls picking that option up.

Arcidiacono, 27, has been with the Bulls since 2017. After going undrafted in 2016, he caught on with Chicago as a high-energy, fundamentally-sound point guard off the bench. Arcidiacono’s best season came in 2018-2019 when he averaged 6.7 PPG, 3.3 APG, and 2.7 RPG in 24.2 MPG. This past season, Arcidiacono averaged 3.1 PPG, 1.3 APG, and 1.5 RPG in 10.2 MPG. He has always been a solid three-point shooter (37.3% for his career) and could slot in well at the end of the bench for a number of teams.

It is possible Arcidiacono returns, but it would be on a minimum deal or close to it. It will be interesting to see how Arcidiacono fits into the Bulls’ plans with their rumored interest in pursuing Lonzo Ball and reuniting with Derrick Rose. Either way, we will remember Arcidiacono for his hustle no matter how poorly the Bulls were doing. Good luck in free agency, Archi!

Great hustle player but not part of the long term fixes from the bench roles we need. Thanks Ryan for playing hard and maybe even coming back in the minimum.
