Announced earlier today, Molson Coors will be discontinuing 11 of its economy brands. Keystone Ice, Keylightful, Mickey’s Fine Malt Liquor Ice, Miller High Life Light, Hamm’s Special Light, Milwaukee’s Best Premium, Icehouse Edge, Magnum, Steel Reserve 211, Olde English HG 8000, and Henry Weinhard’s Private Reserve will all be on the beverage company’s chopping block.
Some of the most notable brand names included in the cuts are Keystone Ice, Miller High Life Light, Steel Reserve 211, and Hamm’s Special Light.
Mickey’s Fine Malt Liquor Ice
There is a lot of conversation taking place regarding Mickey’s, but the big-mouth, grenade-shaped malt liquor bottles aren’t going away completely.
Mickey’s Fine Malt Liquor Ice, the 5.8% ABV ice brewed ale pictured below, is the variant that will be getting axed.
The classic Fine Malt Liquor is a staple for most people and is easily recognizable, while many are probably learning today that an “Ice” version even existed. The confusion on social media made some people frantic, but that just isn’t the case here. The company is planning on prioritizing certain products in the wake of discontinuing the aforementioned brands, and after the COVID-19 pandemic shutdowns, it’s easy to see why.
