After opening NBA free agency with reported transactions of signing Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso in addition to trading Daniel Theis, the Bulls got off to a hot start on day two. Reports about a sign-and-trade possibility that would send Lauri Markkanen to the Timberwolves surfaced this morning, and the team has also reportedly had internal discussions about Khem Birch.

The Bulls are now among a group of teams looking at Danny Green, according to Harrison Sanford of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Green is coming off a one-year deal with the Sixers. While Philadelphia is still the favorite to resign him, representatives from the Bulls in addition to the Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics, and New Orleans Pelicans are reaching out to Green’s camp.

Green would most likely be coming to play on a mid-level exception (MLE) deal, which allows teams to operate above the salary cap.

Green appeared in 69 games last year, averaging 9.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. All of these figures are slightly above his career averages. Green is know for being above a 40% three-point shooter throughout his career. Prior to joining the Sixers, he was a member of the 2020 Bubble Championship-winning Lakers and the 2019 NBA Champion Raptors. He spent his eight previous years with the San Antonio Spurs, where he also won one more championship and earned 2016-17 All Defensive honors.

On an MLE, which would be the most likely scenario, Green would be a great “three and D” role player for the Bulls. He can play both shooting guard and small forward off the bench.

I just say this if the bulls haven’t signed or trade for a player then don’t be getting my hopes up for until it happens then I’ll believe it until then stop putting it out there and it didn’t happen
