Earlier today, Major League Baseball and the Chicago White Sox released their 2022 regular-season schedule.
The White Sox start off their season at home for a three-game stand against the Minnesota Twins before taking their first road trip of the year.
The month of May features the team’s first National League opponent, the Chicago Cubs. Both series will be two-game sets. The White Sox will head to Wrigley Field May 3-4 and host the Cubs over Memorial Day Weekend, May 28-29.
A strong April and May will help the White Sox make a huge statement to the league as they head into a difficult month of June. The White Sox face off with Toronto (5/31-6/2) and Tampa Bay (6/3-6/5) on the road to begin the month. They’ll return home for a three-game stint with the Dodgers (6/7-6/9) before heading back on the road for three against Houston (6/17-6/19). Another tough three-game set against Toronto at home (6/20-6/22) precedes a visit from Baltimore and heading out west to face the Angels to finish off the strenuous month.
July will bring on more American League Central teams, along with several meetings against AL and NL West clubs. The White Sox take on San Francisco and Colorado on the road, as well as Oakland at Guaranteed Rate Field.
August should be the month where the White Sox make their money. Four games against Houston at home is a challenge for all Major League teams, but the rest of the month should be smooth sailing. With three sets against the Royals and one series each against Texas, Detroit, and Cleveland, the White Sox should pile on the wins. Add in the current league leaders in losses, the Arizona Diamondbacks and Baltimore Orioles, to the schedule, and August is a favorable month for the South Siders.
Finishing off the year in September and dipping into October, the South Siders should be able to have a rest period for some of their banged-up or more injury-prone players. The main challenges on the September slate include one more series in Oakland and a three-game set at San Diego to close out the year.
Though the White Sox are currently enjoying an exciting 2021 campaign, it’s nice to see what the future holds for the South Siders next season. Let’s sit back, relax, and enjoy some White Sox baseball through the rest of what is shaping up to be a special 2021 season.
