The Chicago Cubs, along with the other 29 teams in Major League Baseball, released their schedules on Wednesday for the 2022 season. The Cubs schedule is as follows:
The Cubs open the 2022 season on the road in Cincinnati. The three-game series against the Reds will span across four days. The Cubs’ first home game will be on Monday, April 4 against NL Central rival St. Louis.
In addition, there are a few new tweaks to the schedule. Next season, the Cubs will play the AL East, which means the Cubs will see the Tampa Bay Rays, New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, Toronto Blue Jays, and Boston Red Sox.
The crosstown classic will also be shorter than it is in 2021. Beginning this weekend, the Cubs host the White Sox for three games at Wrigley Field before venturing to the south side to play three at the end of August. In 2022, the teams will only play two games at each stadium, with both series happening in May.
Similar to April 2021, the Cubs will see a heavy dose of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Milwaukee Brewers in April 2022. Aside from their two games series with the Cardinals in April, they won’t see them again until the beginning of June.
Schedule releases are always fun. Fans start circling the dates for the 2022 season that they’re most excited about. Which game or series are you most excited about? Let us know over at @CubbiesOnTap on Twitter.
