Ahead of a three-game series against the Cubs, the Chicago White Sox have reinstated Jake Lamb from the 10-day injured list.

In a corresponding move, the club optioned right-handed pitcher Matt Foster to Triple-A Charlotte.

Lamb landed on the injured list due to a strained right quad on June 29 (retroactive to June 28). He has been back in action for the better part of the last month, however, slashing .246/.333/.475 with three home runs and eight RBIs in 16 games at Charlotte.

Prior to his injured list designation and a stint in Triple-A, Lamb slashed .224/.333/.424 with five home runs, 10 RBIs, and a 113 wRC+ in 31 games for the White Sox.

Fans on the South Side are anticipating the return of outfielder Luis Robert, but his rehab assignment in Charlotte will continue for the time being. Lamb gives the White Sox another left-handed bat and some positional versatility, as the 30-year-old has primarily played in the outfield this year after spending most of his career in the infield.

No telling how far we’ll go now that Lamb is back. Maybe he’d of jumped in the seats and caught that bal HR ball given up by Kimbrel
