In preparation for Saturday’s preseason game, the Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins kicked off the first of two joint practices on Wednesday. One notable name was missing from the Bears side, however.

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that the Bears held star wide receiver Allen Robinson out of today’s practice.

Robinson was present but not participating, according to Sean Hammond of The Daily Herald.

After practice, reports began to surface that Robinson was a late scratch due to a hamstring ailment.

This development is a bit confusing given Matt Nagy’s earlier statements that there were no new injuries to report.

Robinson’s absence from the practice field only adds to the list of injuries the team has already endured to date. However, wide receiver is one position group where the Bears could withstand an injury. Surprisingly, the team is pretty deep at the position. Even so, Robinson is by far the top wideout on the Bears roster. It would be hard to replicate what he brings to the offense, so hopefully today’s absence was a precautionary measure and he’ll be back in action in the near future.
