Shortly after the Bears’ preseason victory over the Dolphins, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported that the Bears agreed to terms with offensive lineman Jason Peters.

Peters is the textbook definition of a left tackle. Even at 39 years old, he will be a welcome addition to an offensive line that’s desperate for any healthy left tackle. Peters spent the majority of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles and won a Super Bowl with them in 2017.

Reuniting with Juan Castillo is clearly a major bonus for Peters. He’s signing on for a one-year deal with the Bears. His history at left tackle should add a buffer into the learning curve as he adjusts to the Bears.

Jason Peters is a nine-time Pro-Bowl player, a two-time All-Star, and a member of the Hall of Fame All-2010s team. He’s played all 16 games four times dating back to 2013 but only played in eight games in 2020. Nevertheless, the Bears took a step toward fortifying their offensive line depth with this signing.
