The NFL’s deadline for the second round of roster trim downs has come and gone. The Chicago Bears reduced their roster from 85 to 80 by the 3 PM cutoff on Tuesday.

The team got off to a fast start this morning by waiving offensive lineman Badara Traore.

Following Traore, the Bears also waived running back CJ Marable and offensive lineman Dareuan Parker.

With those three aforementioned players being waived, the Bears roster still sat at 82. To get down to 80, the Bears placed defensive lineman Mike Pennel and safety Jordan Lucas on injured reserve.

The NFL prohibits players that are on the IR before breaking camp to come off the injured reserve and return respective teams during the season. As a result, Pennel and Lucas’ seasons are effectively over. Today’s round of cuts follows last week’s initial wave as the team got down from 90 to 85.

By next Tuesday at 3 PM Central Time, the Bears will have to reduce their roster from 80 to 53.
