The Chicago White Sox announced today that right-handed relief pitcher Evan Marshall will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Charlotte.

Marshall landed on the 10-day injured list due to a strained right flexor pronator in his elbow on June 29. The club then transferred him to the 60-day injured list on July 29. Marshall began throwing bullpen sessions recently, and now he’ll return to game action when he joins the Charlotte Knights.

The righty enjoyed strong seasons with the White Sox in 2019 and 2020, posting ERA figures of 2.49 and 2.38, respectively. However, the 2021 campaign has been a struggle for Marshall. He owns a 5.60 ERA, 4.63 FIP, 1.354 WHIP, and an 8.6 K/9 rate in 27.1 innings across 27 games this season.

With the regular season winding down and playoffs soon approaching, Marshall will need to bounce back from his previous struggles when he returns to action in order to be in contention for a White Sox postseason roster spot.
