Report: The Chicago Bulls Are Interested in James Ennis

The Bulls are reportedly interested in veteran G/F James Ennis. Paul Millsap is another name in the mix and interest persists.

James Ennis

The Chicago Bulls are interested in guard/forward James Ennis, according to Michael Scotto of Ennis, who most recently played for the Orlando Magic, provides athleticism as a guard/forward and is an above-average defender as well.

Ennis has the ability to fill a need for the Bulls — more defense. The 31-year-old is also a decent three-point shooter with a career average of 36% from behind the arc. In Orlando last season, Ennis averaged 8.4 PPG, 1.5 APG, and 4.0 RPG while shooting 47% from the field on 5.9 attempts per game. Ennis also shot 43% from three-point range on 2.5 attempts per game.

Adding Ennis to the mix would be a low-cost move for the Bulls as their guard/forward slots are pretty crowded these days. However, recent reports indicate the Los Angeles Lakers are a potential landing spot for the veteran guard/forward.

In this same article that outlines the Bulls’ rumored interest in Ennis, Michael Scotto also reports that Chicago may be able to offer Paul Millsap the most money. Millsap has interest from the Brooklyn Nets and the Golden State Warriors, though they can only offer him the minimum. Meanwhile, the Bulls could offer Millsap the bi-annual exception. The Bulls also have a $5 million traded player exception in tow to sweeten the pot.
