On Tuesday night, Chicago White Sox right-handed pitcher Lucas Giolito exited a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates in the top of the fifth inning due to left hamstring tightness. The club stated they would reevaluate the righty on Wednesday, and that update is now in from manager Tony La Russa.

Giolito will miss “at least a start,” according to the White Sox skipper.

Giolito’s next turn in the rotation was scheduled for Tuesday, September 7, when the White Sox visit the Oakland Athletics. The White Sox have not named a probable starter in Giolito’s place. They will instead monitor the situation over the next stretch of games to determine the starting pitcher for next Tuesday.

With fellow starter Lance Lynn currently on the injured list, Reynaldo Lopez is expected to slot into a rotation spot on Saturday. To fill Giolito’s next spot in the rotation, the White Sox may elect to recall Jimmy Lambert for a spot start, as they have done earlier in the season, or utilize a bullpen day.
