After a red hot month, Chicago Cubs‘ first baseman Frank Schwindel was named the NL Rookie of the Month for August.

During the month of August, Schwindel slashed .344/.394/.636 with six home runs and 18 RBIs in 26 games. The legend of Frank Schwindel, as said over at Cubs On Tap, has been a pleasant surprise for the Cubs since he was acquired off waivers. For the season, Schwindel is slashing .306/.349/.595, and .337/.385/.644 with the Cubs. Seven of his eight home runs and 21 of his 24 RBIs have come with Chicago.

Schwindel only appeared in eight games with Oakland this season and he did not experience much success. His incredible play with the Cubs may easily extend his MLB career for a few seasons.

Schwindel’s future with the Cubs may be uncertain, but this season he’s doing enough to be noticed by the league. If its not in Chicago, Schwindel should earn a job somewhere in 2022.
