Notre Dame fans will say the Irish played a terrible game; Florida State fans will say the Seminoles played a great game. We can always count on the professional, accredited takes that the users of Twitter dot com provide. They managed to make Brian Kelly the most talked about topic following Notre Dame’s 41-38 victory on Sunday night.

During a postgame interview, Kelly said, “I’m in favor of execution. Maybe our entire team has to be executed after tonight.”

Kelly says the wording was a nod to a joke made by former USC and Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach John McKay. During McKay’s time with the Buccaneers, he was asked about his offense’s “execution,” to which “I’m in favor of it.”

Some reporters were taken aback by Kelly’s choice of words. An argument can be made that the 1970s were in fact a different time. However, this is nothing to get worked up over. Kelly explained himself and reassured every player and parent that the team is in no danger.
