Chicago White Sox left fielder Eloy Jimenez exited Tuesday night’s game against the Oakland Athletics early due to a knee contusion.

Jimenez was initially struck by a foul ball that went into the White Sox dugout in the top of the second inning:

He remained in the game, however, playing left field for three more half innings and taking two more at-bats after the incident.

Jimenez recorded a single to lead off the top of the fifth inning and came around to score on an RBI single by Gavin Sheets, but he appeared to be favoring his right leg upon heading back into the dugout after sliding into home plate.

When the White Sox took the field to start the bottom of the fifth inning, Brian Goodwin entered the game for Jimenez. Andrew Vaughn shifted over to left field and Goodwin trotted out to right field.

Eloy Jimenez’s status is currently day-to-day, according to the White Sox. Per reports, x-rays of his knee were negative.
