After a 12-11-1 record to kick off college football slates, all things considered, I can’t complain. Let’s dive into my favorite bets for Friday, September 10.
Kansas at No. 19 Coastal Carolina (Coastal Carolina -25)
The Chanticleers have covered the spread in four of their last five games, which includes a hefty 33.5-point spread in their 52-14 victory over The Citadel last week.
I may be late to the party by saying this, but Kansas has to be the worst FBS school in college football. Despite winning their first game since October of 2019 last week, it took a late drive in the fourth quarter just to beat FCS opponent South Dakota.
Taking the Coyotes +13.5 was an absolute lock last week. South Dakota was just a few minutes away from winning outright at +360.
Kansas students even stormed the field after the victory. A victory over a much smaller school. Yikes.
The Jayhawks are underdogs this week, but I’m still fading this team. The spread opened at 25, and on some books, it’s moved to 26.5 in favor of the Chanticleers.
The Chanticleers are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 non-conference games. Kansas is 1-10 ATS in their last 11 overall.
Coastal Carolina should run away with this barnburner in the first half.
UTEP at Boise State (Boise State -26, Over 56.5)
The Miners head to the most notable blue football field in the nation as big underdogs to the Broncos. Boise State comes off a brutal loss in which they lead by double digits at halftime but ultimately fell 36-31 to UCF.
The two teams have not played each other since 2004 but the Miners are 0-5 against the Broncos all-time. Boise State is out for blood this week after a loss that may loom large by season’s end.
UTEP has covered in four of their last five games but they are 1-5 ATS in their last six games against Mountain West opponents.
Boise State is 9-2 against teams in UTEP’s conference — Conference USA. UTEP is 1-19 in its last 20 games as an underdog on the road and 9-9-2 ATS. Boise State is 7-2 ATS in their last nine home games and 4-0-1 ATS in their last five games when laying 20 points or more.
It does seem like a toss-up but Boise State should roll easily and cover under the Friday night lights.
The Broncos scored 24 points in the first half against UCF. They shouldn’t have a problem replicating that figure or putting up even more points this week. The Broncos also gave up over 500 yards of offense to UCF. That total will likely drop against UTEP, but the Miners have racked up over 200 yards on the ground in each of their first two games.
The over-under opened at 54.5 and it’s moved to 56.5. It’s a good night to cheer for points, friends.
That is Friday’s picks. Stay tuned for another piece Saturday with my favorite bets.
