Nance returns to the Cubs after a strong showing his first time around earlier this season. Despite a 5.06 ERA in 19 games, Nance showed flashes of quality pitching across his 21.1 innings. The former Independent League pitcher has struck out 23 batters to just 10 walks, in addition to a 1-0 record and four holds.
After a rough start with the Cubs, Adam Morgan has settled in nicely with the Cubs’ bullpen group. In 29 games this season, Morgan has pitched 21.2 innings en route to a 3.32 ERA. Add on 23 strikeouts, only 10 walks, four holds, and two saves, and it’s safe to say Morgan has been very effective for Chicago.
The Cubs begin their series with the San Francisco Giants on Friday at 1:20 p.m. CDT. Former Cub Kris Bryant makes his first return to Wrigley Field after he was traded to the Giants on July 30 for prospects Caleb Kilian and Alexander Canario.
