Chicago Cubs rookie pitcher Keegan Thompson threw a successful bullpen on Friday. Thompson was placed on the IL September 3rd with right shoulder inflammation. According to Jordan Bastian of MLB.com, Thompson will have one more mound workout before potentially being activated from the IL.
Thompson has struggled in his first three starts since joining the Cubs rotation. He carries an ERA of 10.27 in only 7.2 innings as a starter. There still is plenty of reason to believe in Keegan Thompson. His dominance out of the bullpen earlier in the season speaks for itself. Unfortunately it has been tough sledding for the young Cubs pitcher of late. Getting back healthy and finishing the season strong is surely at the top of his to do list.
