Lukas Reichel will wear a Chicago Blackhawks uniform in a game for the first time this month.
The 19-year-old forward is among the top Chicago prospects who will play against the Minnesota WIld’s prospects in two games Sept. 17 and 19 at TRIA Rink at Treasure Island Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Selected in the first round (No. 17 overall) in the 2020 NHL Draft, Reichel signed a three-year, entry-level contract in June. Reichel scored 27 points (10 goals, 17 assists) in 38 regular season games for Eisbären Berlin in Germany’s top league. He added five points (two goals, three assists) in nine playoff games.
The Blackhawks team will have Reichel and 13 other forwards, seven defensemen, and three goaltenders. Rockford IceHogs head coach Derek King, associate head coach Anders Sorensen, development coaches Brian Campbell (defense) and Peter Aubry (goaltenders) and video coach Adam Gill will coach the squad.
The games will be streamed on the Wild’s YouTube channel.
Reichel is joined by fellow first rounder Nolan Allan, a defenseman, who was selected in this year’s draft (No. 32 overall). Forward Colton Dach, a 2021 second-rounder and the younger brother of Chicago forward Kirby Dach, will also play.
Defenseman Ethan del Mastro (fourth round) and forward Jalen Luypen (seventh) make it four members from the Blackhawks’ 2021 draft class to make the roster.
Two offseason signings from overseas in forward Jakub Pour and goaltender Arvid Soderblom will also compete.
Forward Mike Hardman and defenseman Alec Regula, a Chicago Steel alum, are the lone players on Blackhawks’ roster with NHL experience.
