On Tap Bets: College Football Picks for Thursday, Sept. 16 and Friday, Sept. 17

Who’s ready for end of the week college football? Check out two bets to get your weekend of football betting off to a great start.

It was a profitable Saturday for us if you followed my plays and if you follow me on Twitter. Altogether through two weeks I am 29-20-3 betting college football, I ranked in the top 10 of college football betters with our great partner Tallysight. Here’s my picks for Thursday and Friday.

Ohio at Louisiana-Lafayette (Louisiana-Lafayette -21)

The spread opened at 19.5 points and has slowly moved in the Ragin’ Cajuns’ favor. As of now, however, the line has moved back down to 19.5. Ohio is 0-2 on the season, falling to Syracuse and Duquesne.

Ohio was 28.5 point favorites against Duquesne. They lost 28-26. Yikes.

On the other side, the Ragin’ Cajuns haven’t been much better, but are in need of a game where they get back to how they looked last season. The offense has shown regression so far this season after averaging 34 points a game in 2020, but they also played Texas Week One. This should be a great matchup for Louisiana-Lafayette.

It is a short week, so perhaps they might need another week to get back to form. However, the last time these two teams played, Ohio fell 45-25 as favorites in the matchup.

Ohio is 8-0 ATS in their last eight Thursday night games while Louisiana-Lafayette is 2-8 ATS in games they’re 14-point favorites or better. The trends say Ohio, but this is the classic ‘get right’ game for the Ragin’ Cajuns.

UCF at Louisville (Louisville +7, Over 67.5)

Louisville is 51-32-1 on Friday nights all-time and UCF is 39-16 against the spread in their last 55 games after allowing fewer than 20 points in their previous game.

The all-time series is tied 1-1 with UCF last winning 38-35 in 2013.

Louisville is looking to keep momentum rolling and historically as home underdogs, they do. The Cardinals are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games. Perhaps, if the spread comes down to 6.5, UCF is the play, but I locked the Cardinals in at seven points.

Dillion Gabriel has been stellar to start the season for UCF, averaging 315 passing yards per game which ranks in the top 10 in the nation. UCF also ranks #11 in rushing behind Isiah Bowser, who scored four touchdowns last week.

Louisville also has been putting points up behind quarterback Malik Cunningham, who seemingly is doing it all for the Cardinals passing and rushing.

This game screams the over. The over has hit in seven of the last nine games at Louisville. Each of the last seven September games involving UCF have also gone over.

Friday nights are always fun to cheer for points. Let’s start Week Three right.
