As the season of injury continues for the Chicago Bears, the team is due to lose another significant piece on the offensive line. After losing Jason Peters with a quad issue and Teven Jenkins to back surgery, the team is now expected to lose Larry Borom as well.
Borom was selected in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Missouri. The 6-foot-5, 333-pound rookie has an ankle sprain per Jeremy Fowler, and is a candidate for the short-term IR. If Borom misses significant time, the Bears are in deep trouble at the tackle position.
After drafting Jenkins in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Bears parted ways with veteran tackle Charles Leno Jr. Leno wasn’t always the best tackle, but his best ability was availability as he started 93 consecutive games with the Bears. Now, his availability is missed with three Bears tackles dealing with injuries.
It’s uncertain what the line will look like on Sunday when the Bears play their home opener against Cincinnati. Although the Bengals aren’t a dominant team, any injuries on the line could create quite the challenge against the AFC North foe.
