Diageo Beer Company, the parent company behind Guinness, plans to open a second brewery in the U.S. They’ve chosen Chicago’s Fulton Market as their next destination. According to one representative from Diageo Beer Company, Chicago was a natural fit for them.

Jay Sethi, Chief Marketing Officer for Diageo Beer Company, told the Chicago Sun-Times that they are basing the decision to open in Chicago based on the history. They managed to find a building on 375 N. Morgan St. that feels very nostalgic to what they would find in Ireland. It has an old feel but it’s something they can modernize as well.

Guinness currently has one other brewery and pub located in the U.S. in Maryland, as seen above. They also have their own local Guinness brew that’s unique to Baltimore: the Baltimore Blonde.

Sethi says there will be a unique brew for Chicago that can only be found in the Windy City. Undoubtedly, this will be a huge tourist attraction that adds another fantastic beer choice in Chicago. This business venture will be a huge step for the company in the U.S. as well as the Chicagoland area.

The Irish pride throughout Chicago is well-known and well-represented. This Guinness brewery opening up in time for St. Patrick’s Day 2023 would be the perfect way to celebrate the Irish heritage in a fitting spot in Chicago.
