The Chicago Blackhawks saw some game action during their practice today as the team held an intra-squad scrimmage during Day Five of Training Camp.
Rosters for the scrimmage included a stacked Team Red with the likes of Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat flanking Tyler Johnson on the first line. Captain Jonathan Toews was also a headliner on Team Red, slotting in as the second line center with Brandon Hagel and the very impressive Lukas Reichel on his sides. Meanwhile, Kirby Dach, along with Dominik Kubalik and Philipp Kurashev, highlighted the offensive firepower on Team Black. Marc-Andre Fleury was the goaltender for Team Black as well.
Dominik Kubalik opened things up for Team Black in the early going as Team Red failed to get the puck out of their zone effectively. Kirby Dach carried the puck back into the offensive zone and set Kubalik up for a rather easy cross-ice tap-in.
Unfortunately for Team Red, the offensive was only able to muster a lonely goal in the scrimmage scored by forward Michal Teply in the second period. This was all of the offense on either side through the first three periods.
The 2019 third overall pick eventually ended things in OT after a nifty zone entry led to a scoring chance in the slot. The goal looked like child’s play for Dach in the 3-on-3 as Team Black carved through Kane, DeBrincat, and Connor Murphy.
The Blackhawks get set to play the first of their preseason games tomorrow, September 29, at home against the Detroit Red Wings. Puck drop is slated for 7:30 p.m. CDT.
