On Saturday afternoon, the Chicago Bears made an update to their injury report. Heading into their matchup on Sunday against the Detroit Lions, quarterback Andy Dalton was downgraded to doubtful with a knee injury suffered in Week 1. Rookie quarterback Justin Fields will be the starter Sunday.
Fields, who started in Week Three’s horrific loss, had some question marks surrounding his health throughout the week after suffering a hand injury during the start. While Fields was a full participant in practice during the week, Dalton was only limited in practice. Chicago Bears Coach Matt Nagy was as noncommittal in naming a starter throughout much of the week. Nagy is under heavy scrutiny, as he has not been calling plays in which his quarterbacks throw the ball for more than 20 yards.
At the very least, we all now know who will be starting.
