On Sunday evening, the Chicago Bears received potentially encouraging news on the injury front. Late in the game against the Detroit Lions, David Montgomery went down and was writhing in pain. He then went to the locker room with the athletic trainer, nursing a significant limp. However, soon after, the Bears PR team reported that Montgomery was out with a knee injury.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that the Bears and Montgomery may have avoided a serious injury. As it stands, based on early tests, it seems that Montgomery suffered a hyperextended knee. Although, this has yet to be confirmed with an MRI, which the third-year running back will have on Monday.
This probably explains the tweet that Montgomery sent out immediately following the game.
For now, everyone can breathe a sign of relief., including the Bears and David Montgomery.
