Chicago White Sox closer Liam Hendriks has been named September’s American League Reliever of the Month. It is the second time in 2021 that Hendriks has won the award. He also received the honor in May. Hendriks appeared in 13 games, pitched 13.2 innings, struck out 21, and had eight saves. The Sox closer only allowed six hits in the innings he pitched and surrendered no runs. Hendriks rebounded well after an out-of-character August where his ERA was 5.73 in just 11 innings.
As the Chicago White Sox head into the playoffs, Hendriks will need to bring the momentum he’s had in September into October. If the Sox can get the best version of him, they will be tough to beat.
