The Chicago Blackhawks assigned forwards MacKenzie Entwistle and Philipp Kurashev to the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL on Monday. The Blackhawks also placed defensemen Caleb Jones (left wrist strain) on long-term injured reserve and Wyatt Kalynuk (right ankle sprain) and Alec Regula (lower back) on injured reserve.
With those moves, the Blackhawks finalized their 23-man opening-night roster ahead of their opener against the Colorado Avalanche. Wednesday will serve as each team’s season opener at 9:00 p.m. Central time at Ball Arena in Denver.
Entwistle and Kurashev each were sent to Rockford as paper transactions for salary cap purposes. Each player is waiver-exempt and expected to be recalled Tuesday.
