The bad news keeps on the health front keeps on coming for the Chicago Bears. Earlier this afternoon, Bears PR announced that running back Damien Williams landed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.
This comes as a huge blow to the Bears’ offense. Just two weeks ago, the team lost starting RB David Montgomery to a knee injury. As a result, Williams slid into the starter’s role and fared pretty well in taking the place of Montgomery. Now, the Bears will potentially be without their top two running backs.
If Damien Williams’ stint is due to being a close contact, it’s feasible he may be ready for the Packers game. Although, it would take two negative test results 24 hours apart between now and game day. Williams must also be vaccinated, otherwise he will be required to isolate for five days.
But as of now, rookie RB Khalil Herbert and one or both of Ryan Nall and Artavis Pierce will have to carry the load. Based on limited looks, Herbert seems ready to take on that role.
