Listen, when Charles Barkley talks, you pay attention. Of course, I am going to use this to fit my narrative here.
The Chicago Bulls have completely revamped their roster. Only three players are returning who started the 2020-21 NBA season with the team. Those three players are Zach LaVine, Coby White, and Patrick Williams. Every other player who will suit up for the Bulls is a new face. Or it’s a player who was acquired at the 2020-21 NBA Trade Deadline.
A plethora of national media outlets have questioned the Bulls‘ moves. Statements and predictions alike have been made that LaVine and DeMar DeRozan cannot play together and be effective, which DeRozan took offense to and should have. It just didn’t seem many people respected what the franchise did this offseason. Overhauling the roster and adding two All-Stars next to LaVine was a power move. It seems Barkley has bought in.
Look, Miami is no slouch. Jimmy Butler is a battle-tested player who wants one thing, to win. The Heat have added six-time NBA All-Star Kyle Lowry, brought back Victor Oladipo, and still have versatile big man Bam Adebayo. Miami finished sixth in the Eastern Conference last year and made it to the NBA Finals in the 2020 bubble.
It’s a fair discussion of which team will be better. But, I have to side with my guy Chuck here. The Bulls have added so much talent to surround Zach LaVine that fans may actually see the Bulls rise up from the bottom depths of the Eastern Conference into a legitimate contender. That said, only time will tell.
