When the COVID-19 pandemic took the world by storm, many turned to an unexpected source of escapism in the out-of-this-world Netflix documentary Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness. The show and its colorful cast of characters were overnight sensations. While the story ends with Joe Exotic locked behind bars on a murder-for-hire scheme, the people wanted more. On October 27, 2021, Netflix released its first trailer for Tiger King 2.
Holy wow. These wild personalities that allowed themselves to be filmed for the first series are now famous and rich. And they don’t care who knows it. Captain Chaotic Evil Jeff Lowe claims to “have more money than God.” James Garretson appears to have upgraded his jet ski game considerably. Tim Stark and Allan Glover look as crazy as ever. But the heart of the trailer, in my opinion, is Carol Baskin. Season one touched on the mysterious disappearance of her former husband, Don Lewis. That was one of the biggest things to come out of the show. You couldn’t look at Twitter or Instagram without seeing a million posts about “whether Carol did it” (she most certainly did). It looks like there will be a heavy focus on her story and also on the people around Joe Exotic who played him in his desperation. Heck, there’s even a self-proclaimed Eastern European Bitch who insists she can’t be wrong about Joe’s innocence.
Tiger King 2 is slated to premiere on November 17, 2021. Buckle up for an even wilder ride than the first time, my cool cats and kittens.
Selfishly, I hope this release reignites Tiger King Mania. I would love for the presumably scrapped TV show set to star Nicholas Cage to get back on track. Check out my dream cast to surround cage here.
