On the heels of “Joakim Noah” night at the United Center, the Chicago Bulls announced Noah will be taking an ambassador role with the franchise.

Noah was drafted ninth overall in 2007 and spent nine of his NBA seasons with the Bulls. His “heart, hustle, and muscle” energy resonated with the city of Chicago. No one has matched Noah’s energy in the NBA.

Tonight’s nationally televised Bulls vs. Knicks game will be a thank you to Noah for his playing years. The Florida product gave Bulls fans so many great memories through the years. Multiple teammates from over the years will also be in attendance on Thursday.

“I’m truly humbled to be honored by both the team and city that I have always loved and respected. Even more so to be able to celebrate tonight with family, friends, former players and coaches, and most of all – the Bulls fans who helped drive my energy throughout my years in a Bulls uniform at the United Center. It means so much to me that I’m now a Bull for life. I love you all and am thrilled tonight to solidify my continued connection with the Bulls and the city of Chicago, in this new chapter of my life.”

– Joakim Noah

As an ambassador for the team, Noah will be developing relationships around the city and the league on behalf of the Bulls. Ever since leaving Chicago, Noah has remained committed to the city. He has kept his Noah’s Arc Foundation running to this day. The Bulls have announced they have a plan to donate and contribute annually to Noah’s foundation as well.

“When Joakim played for the Bulls, you could see how much he cared about the kids and everything that’s going on in the city. He still comes into town, and he still cares so much. People in Chicago realize that he was more than just a basketball player, he was someone who cared about the community, someone who was going to do his best to make a difference in this world and he has. Joakim embodies every quality you’d want in a team ambassador. This is a natural next step for a former player with such strong history of giving back to Chicago.”

– Michael Reinsdorf, Bulls President and COO

Noah possesses everything NBA players and Chicagoans want from a star. Back where he belongs, Noah will fit perfectly into his new role.
