The Bulls will be without second-year forward Patrick Williams for the season after he sustained a left wrist dislocation.

The injury bug has yet again bitten the Chicago Bulls. Second-year power forward Patrick Williams will likely miss the remainder of the 2021-22 NBA regular season due to a left wrist dislocation, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Williams suffered the injury Thursday in the Bulls’ first loss of the season against the New York Knicks. Williams drove baseline in the third quarter and was on the receiving end of a flagrant foul from Mitchell Robinson. Here’s a look at the play:

Williams made both of his free-throw attempts but did not return to the game. Deemed a “perilunate dislocation,” Bulls’ head coach Billy Donovan described the injury as “pretty significant.”

The Bulls will certainly miss Williams’s presence in the front-court as the season progresses. Despite a bit of a slow start to the season, he has shown flashes of brilliance on both ends of the court. Perhaps the biggest void left by Patrick Williams’s absence will be his size and defensive play.

Currently, the Bulls rank dead last in the NBA in rebounding at 40.2 RPG. With the bench lacking significant size and rebounding ability, the Bulls’ front office may need to get creative to help the team stay competitive.

Well that sucks…..we really needded the kid and needed him to develop. Somewhere some way the front office has to find a vet PF. I personally think even with Pat they needed an athletic big defense first forward. Like a taj or Rodman. They were already getting killed on the boards with PWill. I wonder who starts Saturday?
