After spending a week in COVID-19 protocol, Patrick Kane, as well as assistant coaches Tomas Mitell and Matt Meacham, will return on Monday.
The Chicago Blackhawks host the Ottawa Senators on Monday night at the United Center. The Blackhawks are 0-7-2 and are in desperate need for a win. Ideally, Kane’s return will aid in securing the team’s first win of the 2021-22 campaign. Kane was out on the ice early for morning skate today.
The return of two assistant coaches should also pay dividends. The Blackhawks have been decimated by COVID-19 protocol, whether it be on the ice or behind the bench. Perhaps the return of Mitell and Meacham, along with Kane, will propel the Blackhawks into the win column to open November.
In addition, Blackhawks insider Charlie Roumeliotis reported that Kevin Lankinen was working in the starter’s net on Monday. As Roumeliotis points out, the team likely wants Marc-Andre Fleury to play on Wednesday against Carolina.
That said, a late development has changed the plot. Per reports, Fleury was first off the ice for morning skate. Apparently head coach Jeremy Colliton doesn’t care about the “starter’s net”.
The Blackhawks and Senators are set to play at 7:00 p.m. CDT at the United Center on Monday. The Senators enter the matchup with a 3-4 record, looking to improve to .500 on the season. As mentioned, Chicago looks for their first win in the team’s 10th game.
