The Chicago Blackhawks have been dealing with numerous COVID-19 absences over the past couple of weeks, but some of those issues seem to be subsiding.

Defenseman Riley Stillman and forward Jujhar Khaira returned to the ice for an optional practice on Tuesday. Both players had been in COVID-19 Protocol since October 24.

The team also removed assistant coaches Marc Crawford and Jimmy Waite from COVID Protocol.

This rash of returns comes one day after Patrick Kane reentered the Blackhawks lineup. Kane, who had been in COVID Protocol since October 23, provided a much-needed spark in his return by recording a hat trick and a primary assist. His efforts propelled the Blackhawks to their first win of the season on Monday night.

Stillman and Khaira have each missed the Blackhawks’ past five games. During that stretch, Isaak Phillips saw time on the blue line and Reese Johnson, among others, slotted into the forward group.

Though these players and coaches returned from COVID Protocol, one name still remains — Henrik Borgstrom. The forward entered COVID Protocol on October 26, two days after Stillman and Khaira, so he may miss Wednesday’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes.
