The Chicago Cubs welcomed full-capacity crowds this past summer at Wrigley Field, an element missing during the COVID-19 pandemic shortened season in 2020.
The change gave fans a chance to see their favorite team and players, but they won’t be given that opportunity in January as the Cubs canceled their annual Cubs Convention on Saturday.
It’s the second consecutive winter the team will not hold its annual fan convention. The Cubs Convention was scheduled for January at the Sheraton Grand Chicago. The team plans to revive the Cubs Convention in 2023.
The convention normally provides fans a chance to hear from the team’s executives, players, and prospects. It’s also a time when media members are able to interview said individuals after the dust settles on the offseason with Spring Training on the horizon.
The White Sox have also announced the cancelation of their SoxFest.
