Third-year guard Coby White could be close to a return. White, who has not played yet during the 2021-22 NBA season, took live contact during the Chicago Bulls’ practice on Sunday. During the offseason, White sustained a shoulder injury playing basketball in a non-team-related situation.

White would bring much-needed scoring to the Bulls’ bench. The team is averaging 23.8 points per game off the bench, which currently ranks dead last in the NBA. White is a streaky scorer but can get buckets in bunches. His highest level of play to date has come as a scorer instead of a playmaker, so this new assignment should work well for him.

Coby White has appeared as a reserve 79 times in his career. In 25.4 minutes per game off the bench, he averages 12.5 PPG, 3.3 RPG, and 2.7 APG while shooting 39% from the field and 34% from downtown. With the versatile defenders on the Bulls’ bench, White should settle into a scoring role perfectly.
