On Friday afternoon, the Chicago White Sox purchased the contracts of RHP Jason Bilous and LHP Bennett Sousa from their Triple-A affiliate, the Charlotte Knights.

Bilous, 23, is a right-handed starting pitcher who spent time in both High-A Winston-Salem and Double-A Birmingham in 2021. The righty posted a 3-8 record with a 5.76 ERA in 79.2 innings over 20 starts. Bilous is looking to improve on his numbers as he shows promise in K/9 with 12, and home runs comprise a small fraction of his hits allowed.

Sousa, 26, is a left-handed reliever who has been a part of the Chicago White Sox organization since 2018 bouncing around all of the minor league teams. Sousa’s 2021 stint ended with a 4-3 record and a 3.61 ERA over 47.1 innings pitched in 41 appearances.

The White Sox 40-man roster now sits at 35 just before the Rule 5 Draft deadline. With five spots left on the roster, it leaves plenty of room for outside additions to the team.
