The Chicago Bulls are coming off a huge win over the New York Knicks on Sunday night. Actually, the Bulls are coming off an impressive 12-game stretch of playing teams over .500. In those contests, the Bulls went 8-4 and now sit atop the Eastern Conference. The team did this despite missing center Nikola Vucevic since November 12 when he entered the NBA’s Health and Safety Protocol due to COVID-19.
Though he is now back with the team, he will still miss Monday night’s contest against the Indiana Pacers.
Alex Caruso entered the starting lineup in Vucevic’s absence, as did Tony Bradley. Caruso has been a fan favorite and a key player in the Bulls’ early success. He ranks third in the league in steals per game and often draws the assignment of guarding the opposing team’s best player. But he is in danger of missing tonight’s game due to a left wrist contusion.
On the season, Caruso is averaging 7.5 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 4.1 APG, and 2.2 SPG. If he misses tonight’s game, his starting lineup spot will likely go to Derrick Jones Jr or Javonte Green.
Though the injury bug has bitten the Bulls, they still have a plethora of players that can score the rock and defend. Of course, the team would much rather have everyone available, but the next-man-up mentality still rings true to this day for the Bulls.
