Bears Fans Chant ‘Fire Nagy’ at Son’s Football Game

Bears fans may have gone a little too far this time.

Chicago Bears fans are extremely frustrated with current head coach Matt Nagy. The Bears are currently on a five-game losing streak. Nagy’s “offensive genius” has yet to show in his tenure and he is on the hot seat. During Sunday’s loss to the Ravens, Soldier Field erupted in “Fire Nagy” chants.

Even during the Bulls’ blowout loss to the Pacers on Monday night, fans called for his job.

Nagy knows criticism comes with his position given the dynamics of Chicago sports media and fandom. But Bears fans may have gone a little too far this time.

During Saturday’s Class 6A semifinals playoff game featuring Lake Forest and Cary-Grove, “Fire Nagy” chants erupted from the Cary-Grove sideline. Matt Nagy’s son plays for Lake Forest. While it is fair to call for Nagy’s job due to poor performance, his son’s high school football game is neither the time nor the place.

Cary-Grove released a statement on the issue after the video went viral on social media.

Recent reports indicate Nagy has totally lost the locker room and Thursday will be his last game as Bears’ head coach. If the latter development comes to fruition, it would mark the first time the Bears fire a coach mid-season.
