After a devastating 16-13 loss to the Ravens, the Bears have a quick turnaround against the Lions on Thanksgiving. With only a few days of rest, most of the Bears’ injured players haven’t had time to recover. On Tuesday, the team made three roster moves resulting from further injury news.

The Bears placed defensive back Duke Shelly on injured reserve. While Chicago’s secondary has been poor this year, Shelly has been one of the young players stepping up. While the Bears aren’t likely to be competitive through the end of the season, it’s disappointing Shelly can’t use this time to develop further.

With a roster spot available, the Bears moved defensive tackle Margus Hunt from the practice squad to the active roster. Hunt brings a veteran presence to the defensive front. He spent time with the Bengals, Colts, Saints, and Cardinals across eight seasons before coming to Chicago. In three games with the Bears this season, Hunt has just two solo tackles and one tackle for loss.

Lastly, the Bears signed kicker Brian Johnson to the practice squad. Johnson was on the practice squad this offseason but Chicago cut him before the season. The Saints picked him up and he went 8-8 on his field-goal attempts but 5-8 on extra points.
