On Wednesday, the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced its class of semifinalists. Among the group is former Chicago Bears kick returner Devin Hester.

Within the group, there are seven first-year eligible players who made the cut as semifinalists. Hester, the greatest kick returner of all time, is included in the group of 26.

As the best player at his position, Hester should be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Naturally, many people want to write him off because he didn’t play on every down. However, when you become the most dangerous returner in league history, it forces consideration to join the game’s elite in Canton.

Hester is one step closer to immortality. The Pro Football Hall of Fame is not complete if the greatest to ever return kicks is not there. In fact, it is a disservice to the fans of the future if they cannot learn about Devin Hester when visiting Canton, Ohio. After accumulating 20 return touchdowns, he should high step his way into the Hall of Fame.
