Former Chicago Bulls and current San Antonio Spurs forward Thaddeus Young recently appeared on The Alex Kennedy Podcast. If you get the opportunity, give it a listen. Young mentioned that just days prior to the trade that sent him to San Antonio, the Bulls front office told his agent he’d be back in Chicago.
Upon hearing the Bulls had traded for DeMar DeRozan, Young said his phone started to blow up and he did more digging, eventually finding out he was part of the trade. Young acknowledged that he knew this is a business and sometimes things unfold how his situation did.
However, he didn’t seem too happy about hearing the news via social media. “But the only thing I wish is that I had gotten the heads up before I found out from social [media],” Young said.
Young spent two seasons with the Bulls. He appeared in 132 games (39 starts) and was a model of consistency, averaging 11.2 PPG, 5.6 RPG, and 3.1 APG. Those figures came on shooting 50% from the field and 34% from downtown in just under 25 minutes per game.
Could The Bulls Get Thad Back?
Many fans didn’t want Thad to leave Chicago. It’s not that they didn’t want DeRozan, but they loved what Young brought to the table as a veteran leader.
Thaddeus Young would be a great asset to have back in Chicago. The Bulls currently lack size and Young could be an interesting trade target. He is currently playing 15.9 MPG on a rebuilding Spurs squad.
It wouldn’t come as a surprise if Young doesn’t want to return to the Bulls after the manner in which he found out he was leaving Chicago. But the 14-year veteran does have a great relationship with Zach LaVine, and anything can happen in the NBA world.
