On Saturday morning, the Chicago Blackhawks recalled defenseman Ian Mitchell from the AHL Rockford IceHogs.

Mitchell began the season with the NHL club, recording one assist in three games. The Blackhawks sent him down to Rockford in late October.

In 15 games for the IceHogs, Mitchell has seven points (two goals, five assists).

Ian Mitchell’s return to the NHL club comes as the Blackhawks are dealing with several injuries to defensemen. Connor Murphy landed in concussion protocol Friday, Calvin de Haan missed Thursday’s game in Washington, and Riley Stillman is still working back from a leg injury.
