Notre Dame All-America safety Kyle Hamilton and starting running back Kyren Williams announced Friday they will not play for the Irish in the Fiesta Bowl against Oklahoma State and will declare for the 2022 NFL Draft.

Hamilton had not played for Notre Dame after an awkward fall against USC on Oct. 23. Then-head coach Brian Kelly said Hamilton did not suffer structural damage to his right knee, but called it a “pinched fat pad” that would not rule him out for the remainder of the season. Hamilton had 35 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions, and four pass breakups.

Hamilton, the top-ranked safety for the upcoming NFL draft by multiple outlets, is viewed as a top-15 prospect.

Williams rushed for a team-high 1,002 yards and 14 touchdowns. He had 1,125 rushing yards and 13 scores last season and finished his career with 675 receiving yards and four scores.

Williams is mainly viewed as the fourth-best running back for the draft, behind Iowa State’s Breece Hall, Michigan State’s Kenneth Walker III, and Texas A&M’s Isaiah Spiller.

The 2022 NFL Draft will take place from Thursday, April 28 to Saturday, April 30 in Las Vegas.
