The Bears have an ongoing situation at Halas Hall. They are in enhanced COVID-19 protocols already and now the issue is growing. While speaking with the media, Matt Nagy announced the increasingly bad news that all Bears’ coordinators are in COVID-19 protocol. Bill Lazor, Sean Desai, and Chris Tabor are all absent from Halas Hall today.

If defensive coordinator Sean Desai is unavailable for Monday night’s game against the Minnesota Vikings, then Mike Pettine could take over. Pettine has experience in this department as he formerly called defensive plays for the Green Bay Packers.

Furthermore, the Bears have players dealing with non-COVID illnesses as well. This forced the team to have practice meetings on Zoom.

The Bears previously placed Mario Edwards Jr. and Eddie Goldman on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Shortly after, they added Larry Borom to that list as well. Across the league, more than 80 players were added to the Reserve/COVID-19 list causing concern for the NFL. The league has discussed changing the COVID-19 protocols and has already enforced the booster shot for all tier 1 and 2 employees.

If the league cannot get this situation under control, or the Bears for that matter, then the risk of games getting postponed only becomes higher. The league is already in danger of that happening. The Washington Football Team currently has over a dozen players on the list. The Cleveland Browns have a COVID-19 surge going on as well. The Bears now need to get this issue corrected and hope things don’t get worse before they get better.
