On Saturday afternoon, the Chicago Bears activated defensive lineman Eddie Goldman from the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

Goldman has been on the Reserve/COVID-19 list since Tuesday. According to Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times, Goldman is unvaccinated. Due to that factor, he should have been in line to miss Monday night’s game against the Vikings. Furthermore, Goldman should have been away from the team for at least 10 days, according to the NFL’s COVID protocol. His activation is surprising to say the least.

After adding quarterback Andy Dalton to the Reserve/COVID-19 list, the Bears could use some depth under center. Chicago signed quarterback Ryan Willis to the practice squad. The Bears gave Willis a tryout in late September.

Willis played his first two collegiate seasons at Kansas before transferring to Virginia Tech for his junior and senior years. With the Hokies, Willis threw for over 3,600 yards and 33 touchdowns.

Ledarius Mack

The Bears also signed Khalil Mack’s younger brother, Ledarius Mack, to the active roster. They previously signed Mack in November and he played 10 snaps against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Bears are preparing to host the Vikings on Monday Night Football. The game is still scheduled to take place as planned despite the recent outbreak. The newly added players give the Bears some insurance in case further complications arise before kickoff.
