This morning, Bears head coach Matt Nagy said on WBBM-AM 780 News Radio that defensive coordinator Sean Desai is cleared to call defensive plays for Monday Night Football. He made it through the COVID-19 protocol and has tested negative in order to return to the team.
The Bears put Desai and their other two coordinators in the COVID-19 protocol late last week. They were all questionable to return for Week 15. The Monday Night Football matchup with the Minnesota Vikings could have been postponed with many players out as well. If the NFL scheduled this game for a noon kickoff on Sunday, the chances of postponement would have been much higher.
Bears vs. Vikings Outlook for Monday Night Football
The game tonight will go on as planned between the Bears and Vikings. The good news is Chicago got a few players back ahead of this game. Now that Sean Desai is cleared to call defensive plays, the outlook is a bit brighter.
Chicago beat Minnesota last time the two met as the Bears extinguished the Vikings’ playoff aspirations. They hope to do that again tonight with an upset win over their divisional opponent. Desai being back in the booth Monday night will certainly help.
