The Chicago Bears’ decimated defense, specifically the secondary, got some positive news today. In his meeting with the media, head coach Matt Nagy stated cornerback Duke Shelley is returning from the COVID-19 protocol.

Duke Shelley’s First Return

Shelley initially returned on Dec. 16 after spending a few weeks away due to injury. A day passed and the Bears placed Shelley on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

He missed Monday night’s game against the Vikings when the Bears were without their entire secondary.

Beefing Up The Secondary

The Bears brought up a slew of players before the game last night. The secondary performed but it was still a clear weakness against Minnesota. Now that Shelley is returning from COVID-19, the defense can get themselves whole again.

Chicago’s next matchup comes against a Seattle team that is struggling as well. They play in the 3 o’clock window on Sunday, Dec. 26. The Bears can potentially get more players back for their defense before then.
