Chicago Bulls head coach Billy Donovan announced that every player previously in the NBA’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols is now healthy and ready to return.
The only players to miss Thursday’s practice were Alex Caruso and Derrick Jones Jr., both of whom are dealing with injuries. The Bulls have been battling COVID-19 since the beginning of December. At one time, 10 players were in protocols, forcing the NBA to postpone two of their games.
Despite the Bulls being without key contributors, they have a 5-2 record in the month of December. Chicago currently ranks second in the Eastern Conference behind the Brooklyn Nets. The “next man up” mentality paid off while the Bulls were missing stars such as DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine.
Going forward at full strength will be a sight for sore eyes. The Bulls have a real opportunity to make some noise in the East throughout the remainder of the season. Donovan certainly hopes COVID will not be an issue again down the stretch so his team can stay healthy and continue to impress heading into 2022.
