On Sunday, the Chicago Bears ventured to Seattle and defeated the Seahawks in comeback fashion. However, Justin Fields was inactive for the game as Nick Foles led the Bears to victory. Per Brad Biggs, Fields was in a walking boot the entire week and did not see any reps leading up to Sunday.

Earlier in the week, reports indicated Fields was dealing with an ankle injury he suffered during the team’s Monday night loss to the Minnesota Vikings. The injury led to Fields sitting all week. Now, it feels safe to assume that the rookie quarterback will be shut down for the last two weeks of the season.

With COVID-19 and injuries destroying the Bears’ roster, Nick Foles and Andy Dalton might battle it out for playing time. Of the three quarterbacks on the roster, only Fields is guaranteed to be with the team in 2022. As of now, Foles and Dalton are showcasing for future opportunities in the NFL.

Chicago has two games left on the schedule. The Bears welcome the Giants to Soldier Field on Jan. 2. Following the home finale, the Bears travel to Minneapolis for their final NFC North battle of the season against the Vikings. Truthfully, there is no sense in risking Fields’ health if he is not 100% for the remainder of the season.
